The Altoona Mirror reports that House Bill 2157 will restrict times when citizens can shoot of fireworks, but it will lower the penalty for violating the law. If passed, the bill would require that anyone shooting fireworks do so 150 feet from any occupied structure, and if there are no such areas, local officials can ban the use of fireworks completely. Municipalities can require residents to obtain a permit for fireworks. The bill is now in the hands of the governor. He has not stated what he will do with the bill.
