According to news reports, the Public Utility Commission has announced another price hike will go into effect beginning September 1st. The PUC says that it is time for the good old quarterly rate adjustment period, and electricity prices will begin to fluctuate higher. Companies expected to raise rates again are Penelec, West Penn Power, First Energy, Met-Ed and Peco. And of course, along with the increase in rates, the companies also have a laundry list of ways to cut down on energy use, such as keeping your thermostat at one constant temp, insulate windows, have your air conditioner serviced, and use ceiling fans to circulate cold air.
