A report by CapitolWire in the Altoona Mirror reads that a state house committee has blocked an effort to pass a law that would allow independent voters to take part in primary elections. Right now, only republicans and democrats can vote in the primaries, which chooses candidates for general elections. The vote to block the amendment was 15-10. Also yesterday, the panel voted 21-4 to have both the health and state departments in pa submit a monthly report to provide names of people who have died, and that their names be removed from the state uniform registry of voters.
