A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that D.A. Lesley Childers-Potts is now the only prosecuting attorney in the office after her last two assistants resigned in August and September. That leaves Potts as the only prosecuting attorney in the D.A.’S Office. Childers-Potts told the Pa District Attorneys Institute that this is happening in many counties across Pennyslvania, that they cannot retain assistant prosecutors. Many say that low pay, long hours and no recognition are reasons that drive lawyers away from this position. The attorney general is handling about 20% of Bedford County’s case load for the time being.
