In a report issued by state police, troopers investigated 661 crashes during the holiday weekend period from Friday thru Sunday. In all, there were 5 fatal crashes statewide that killed 7 people, both numbers are up from the same Christmas time period in 2021. Also troopers report that they arrested 116 people for driving under the influence, that number decreased drastically from 2021. Also, 451 speeding tickets were handed out over the weekend, along with 110 citations for seat belt violations, and 11 drivers were cited for not using child safety seats. Now state police are gearing for a new years weekend.
