News reports indicate that Rep. Mark Rozzi a Democrat was elected by a margin of 115-85 yesterday to become the next speaker of the house. Even though republicans control the house with a 101-99 margin temporarily, they could not apparently muster enough democratic votes to get their candidate for speaker elected. Rozzi has spoken out against child sexual abuse and promised to fight for that cause, alongside Blair County 80th District Rep. Jim Gregory. The house still has 3 vacant seats to fill with special elections, all of those seats were held by democrats from Allegheny county.
