According to published reports, the 52 residents are facing charges of receiving public assistance they allegedly were not entitled to get. If they are convicted, they could receive a jail sentence plus fines. And could be banned from receiving benefits such as snap, cash assistance or subsidized day care. The office of inspector general reported that nearly $359,000 of assistance reportedly went to these people. Felony charges were filed in late January. The report says that the suspects gave false information to state officials in order to obtain the benefits.
