According to WTAJ, Rep. Schmitt will sit on the House Transportation committee which oversees vehicle rules and codes, Penndot, airports, highways the turnpike and mass transit. One of Schmitts predecessors, the late Rick Geist was the chairman of this committee for decades. Rep. Schmitt will also sit on the House Appropriations committee and the State Government committee. He will be the lone Republican to sit on the transportation committee. The state gov’t committee acts on gov’t reforms, election laws, open records and the sunshine act, ethics acts and more.
