The Altoona Mirror reports that Judge Elizabeth Doyle ruled that the trial for Isiah Payne of Philadelphia and Onya Lewis of Gallitzin will take place, but it will have to wait. Payne and Lewis are charged with the double homicide of Natalie Washington and Mikal Steven Jackson in Washington’s Beale avenue apartment back in may of 2020. Judge Doyle ruled that more preliminary work needs to be completed, thus canceling jury selection that was supposed to begin next month. The ruling pushed jury selection back to the week of November 13th. Blair D.A. Pete Weeks announced that his office will seek the death penalty against Payne, because he is the alleged shooter in the case, which could go to trial in December. Payne is facing 1st degree murder charges, while Lewis is charged with 2nd degree murder.
