A report in the Altoona Mirror states that the security force has dealt with just over 100 security issues since school began. They range from just about all types of situations, and security chief Bill Pfeffer says that all has gone well so far. The district is in the process of hiring security greeters for some elementary schools, but potential greeters need to complete a 40 hour training course and be certified to qualify for one of these positions. The potential greeters will also have to be certified to carry a firearm to work inside a school building, which is a state mandated requirement.
