Altoona firefighters responded to a duplex fire yesterday afternoon on the 1000 block of 5th Avenue. Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly before 3 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the first floor and front porch. No one was in the home at the time of the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
