A woman incarcerated at the Centre County Correctional facility in Bellefonte has filed suit against the county jail claiming she was denied medical treatment during her time as an inmate. In the lawsuit, Jessica Tressler alleges the staff labeled her a “faker and a drug seeker” and as a result was denied necessary medical help. In her suit she claims that in April of 2022 she was suffering from what she believed to be a kidney and urinary tract injection and was allegedly only treated with Tylenol and Gatorade. Later in the day she was found unconscious in her cell. As her conditional reportedly continued to deteriorate, she was eventually taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center where she was diagnosed with internal bleeding, septic shock, pneumonia and other health related issues. She later had to be life flighted to Geisinger Hospital to undergo two heart surgeries for valve replacement. Tressler reportedly is seeking $25 million in compensatory damages.
