A Latrobe attorney is facing charges, after he was accused of stealing over $31,000 from a woman who was incarcerated.  Investigators in Westmoreland County arrested 69-year-old John Roth who represented the incarcerated woman, and reportedly exploited her by stealing thousands from her, because he had a gambling habit.  Investigators say the female victim, began to notice multiple unauthorized transactions on her bank statements, while she was in jail.  During an investigation detectives learned that Roth never submitted his name as the woman’s legal counsel and had persuaded her to sign a power of attorney agreement giving him access to her account.  In a prepared statement the District Attorney’s Office in Westmoreland County noted that between April and September of this year, Roth allegedly racked up over $380,000 in gambling debts.  Roth is facing charges including theft and deceptive business practices.
