Test Flights Using Drones Scheduled For Johnstown

Test flights are to begin in Johnstown this June for an emergency drone program.  The project will reportedly use drone technology to improve emergency response performances, and also deliver critical supplies like EpiPens and Narcan.  Planned service areas for the project’s first phase include the Oakhurst region in Johnstown, along with parts of Dale, Ferndale, Brownstone, Southmont and Westmont boroughs and East Conemaugh.   These early test flights will be seen from June 2-8.  The program could expand to neighboring counties such as Blair and Somerset, earlier this fall, if funding becomes available.  An open house for people to ask questions about the program will be held on May 13^th at 6:00 p.m. at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center in Johnstown.
