A Saint Mary’s couple is behind bars for “repeated violence” against an infant which reportedly caused the child to suffer 11 different broken bones. Authorities in Elk County say 19-year-old Tasha Ford and 23-year-old Ian Sobrino, are each facing over a dozen charges that include multiple counts of felony aggravated assault, and child endangerment. Police were contacted earlier this month after the infant, who was five weeks old at the time, was treated at a hospital for numerous injuries that included fractured wrists, a broken arm, and a fractured femur, along with bruising over her body. Police say Ford told them the baby fell out of a bouncer seat, but later claimed the infant “self-harms.” The child was later transported to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where medical personnel discovered broken bones in different stages of healing. Both Ford and Sobrino have been placed in the Elk County Jail on $100,000 bail each. They face a preliminary hearing on June 17th.
