Rabid Fox Caught In State College

state-game

A rabid fox was caught, and later euthanized in State College last week after the State Game Commission received reports of a fox behaving strangely.  Reportedly, the gray fox attempted to approach both people and pets, and may have tried to bite people.  After the fox was captured, it was tested for rabies, which turned out to be positive.  Animals with rabies will often show signs of aggression, difficulty walking, little fear of people, and excessive drooling.  The Pennsylvania Game Commission reminds everyone that if you suspect a wild rabid animal, keep a safe distance, and contact them immediately.
