A Penn State fraternity has been suspended from the university for a period of at least four years, following allegations of abuse and hazing. Sigma Pi had been placed on an interim suspension, but an investigation showed multiple reports of serious misconduct and hazing at the fraternity that reportedly included physical and mental abuse, along with the forced consumption of alcohol and other substances. In a press release from the university it was noted that despite the suspension, Sigma Pi continues to operate as an unrecognized organization off campus, with backing from the international headquarters.
