Shapiro Administration Invests Millions In Expanding Trails Across The State

Yesterday, the Shapiro Administration announced a $2.1 million dollar investment to expand and improve all-terrain vehicle and snowmobile trails and facilities across he commonwealth, strengthening the state’s $19-billion outdoor recreation industries, along with boosting rural communities.  Among the awards is a slightly more than $48-thousand dollar grant going to the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation for an economic impact study of the Central Allegheny Highlands ATV Trail System.  The grants are funded through ATV and snowmobile registrations, as well as the Pennsylvania Recreational Trails Program.  According to the state’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Pennsylvania has more than 291,000 registered ATV’s, and 32,000 snowmobiles.
