A Breezewood man is in custody after a 6-year-old boy drowned in a pool while under his care at the Breezewood Proving Grounds last month. Twenty-seven-year-old Waylon Brennan is facing charges that include endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person. Police were called to the scene for a report of a missing 6-year-old on the afternoon of August 3rd. The boy was found deceased at the bottom of a pond after being left to swim with his 5-year-old brother. When interviewed, Brennan claimed the two boys were not his biological children, but that he was raising them. He told officers he went to his truck to get water and text their mother after the 6-year-old said he was thirsty. Brennan claimed the pond was visible from his truck and that he was only away for a couple of minutes. Brennan initially claimed to be sober, but a blood test revealed he had marijuana in his system. Brennan has been placed in the Bedford County Prison where bail has been set at $25,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 10th.
