Two young men were charged last week in connection with an alleged “viral” assault in rural Cambria County last month.  According to police, a social media video shows 20-year-old Ayden Bark of Altoona, repeatedly striking a male victim, resulting in a fractured jaw, while 18-year-old Ethan Benton of Cresson is seen encouraging the assault.  A police affidavit reports that Bark and Benton were involved in a confrontation that occurred during a party held in a wooded area off Diehl Lane in Allegheny Township.  The victim reportedly suffered multiple serious injuries, and was attacked after trying to defend, and prevent a friend from being assaulted.  Bark is currently in the Cambria County Prison on felony charges that include aggravated assault, and possession of an instrument of crime, among other counts.  His bail has been set at $75,000.  Benton reportedly was arraigned last week on charges that included solicitation of assault and other offenses.  He has since posted bail from the Cambria County Prison.  Both are to face a preliminary hearing on October 7th.
