Altoona Man Facing Arson Charges

dumb-ass-11

A 35-year-old Altoona man, was taken into custody after his arraignment on Tuesday.  Timothy Balchick faces felony counts for arson and risking catastrophe, along with misdemeanor charges for making terroristic threats, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.  Altoona Police were called to a home on the 1000 block of Second Avenue for a welfare check Monday evening.  The victim informed officers that, following a verbal argument, Balchick had poured gasoline on the home’s foundation and front porch. This was reportedly the second time in a week.  Officers smelled, and saw gasoline marks on the house and on bushes in the front yard.  A gas can was later found in the back of Balchick’s truck.  Bail was set at $50,000, and he was sent to the Blair County Prison.
