Pennsylvania health insurance premiums are now expected to more than double for the average Affordable Care Act (ACA) enrollee if Congress allows enhanced federal subsidies to expire at the end of the year. The state’s ACA exchange, Pennie, has updated its projections, estimating a 102% average increase, which is significantly higher than its previous 82% forecast. Pennie, and state officials are concerned that the higher costs could cause thousands of Pennsylvanians to lose, or drop their health coverage.
