Express Scripts Terminates Contract With Martella’s

Pharmacy benefit manager  Express Scripts has allegedly terminated its network contract with the Cambria County based chain Martella’s Pharmacies, impacting hundreds of customers.  According to WJAC News, the termination reportedly occurred overnight without notice, despite an ongoing class-action lawsuit filed in August by Martella’s and its customers.  This suit accuses Express Scripts of unfair practices and violating patient access rights by forcing customers toward mail-order or larger pharmacies.  Martella’s attorneys plan to seek a temporary restraining order to protect patient access.
