A former Altoona resident, 44-year-old Jonathan Hunt, has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for possessing sexually explicit images of children. The Department of Justice announced that U.S. District Judge Stephanie Haines imposed a sentence of 108 months behind bars, which will be followed by 10 years of supervised probation. Hunt had entered a guilty plea last month to violating federal sex offense laws. In 2021 Hunt was caught attempting to distribute and possess sexually explicit images of minors. The case was the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, and was prosecuted as part of the nationwide Project Safe Childhood initiative.
