Next year, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s annual salary will rise by slightly more than $8,000, to a little under $254,000 a year. This automatic cost-of-living adjustment is expected to make him the highest-paid governor in the United States, surpassing New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s $250,000 a year salary. Conversely, the nation’s lowest-paid governor, Maine’s Janet Mills, earns $70,000 a year. According to Business Insider, this year’s average salary for a governor in the United States was just more than $167,000.
