Antis Township supervisors are set to hold a special meeting to discuss the potential merger of the township’s two volunteer fire companies, a decision prompted by a contentious debate yesterday involving township officials and the Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Co. Pinecroft has resisted the state-recommended consolidation, and a merger invitation from the Bellwood-based Excelsior Fire Department. Concerns among Pinecroft officials reportedly center on the risk of slower response times for their residents if operations move to a single station, among other issues. The meeting will take place next Friday, January 16th, at 6:00 p.m. at the township building.
