Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the November 30 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!
The popularity of vinyl records has seen a resurgence in recent years, with numerous current superstar acts issuing vinyl versions of their latest releases, and a number of area bands and artists issuing their recordings in vinyl form. We saluted area bands and performers – past and present – who have issued their music on vinyl with the first-ever “Local Music On Vinyl Special!” We pulled out a few “Local Music Flashback” of past bands and performers on vinyl, and updated “Local Music News!” (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 113025.)

In Local Music News…
First, a reminder and an update about the 5th annual Toys for Tots Concert & Fundraiser, taking place this Saturday, December 6 at the Patton American Legion. The event starts at 1 p.m., with live music beginning at 3 p.m. Performers will be The Lee Miller Experience, Nero, the Backyard Rockers, Electric Swamp, Abstentious and Deny Your Negan. There will also be a free pizza party starting at 5 p.m., along with raffles and other giveaways. Admission is the donation of a new, unwrapped toy, with toys going to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program to make the Christmas season happier for deserving area families. Sponsorships from generous local businesses are still being accepted to help make this year’s event a success.
The Centre County music scene was saddened this past week by the passing of Chrissy Keller-Miller. Chrissy fronted a number of Centre County-based bands alongside her husband, guitarist Al Miller. Some of those groups included Chrissy and the Heart Attacks, Fat Girl Slim, AC Express and Black Widow.
And we send out our heartfelt get well wishes to area musician Frank Bradley. Known to many as “Booter,” Frank is currently hospitalized at Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown with a medical issue. Frank has also played guitar in recent years with Cambria County-based bands Ruff Tymes and Sunset Strip.
