Two Penn State University roommates have been charged with making terroristic threats last month, after allegedly posting a false bomb threat on the social media app Yik Yak, to avoid a final exam.  The message alleged there was a bomb in the Forum Building on the University Park Campus, and threatened to “shoot up this place.” Penn State Police, the UPPS bomb squad, local police, and the FBI responded to the scene.  No explosives or firearms were foundPolice later traced the post to the phone of 19-year old Madeline Steczkowski who was rooming with 19-year-old Carolyn Kahn.  Steczkowski allegedly told police she made the post because they were “complaining” about finals.  Steczkowski claimed Kahn offered to pay her ten dollars to post the threat to cancel Kahn’s scheduled exam.  Both are facing charges that include terrositic threats, and false bomb threats.  They are to face a preliminary hearing on February 18th.
