A burst water pipe forced the Days Inn in Somerset to shut down yesterday afternoon, following significant flooding across all levels. According to the Somerset Regional Volunteer Fire Department, a sprinkler system main ruptured on the third floor of the Lewis Drive property just before 2 p.m. Although the break was on the top floor, water cascaded down to the lower levels, causing damage. Reportedly, borough inspections, and potentially weeks of repairs will be required before the building can reopen.
