Firefighters responded to a commercial building fire at the former Alto Garden Center in the Greenwood section of Altoona last night. Crews from Logan Township, Greenwood, and Lakemont were dispatched to the East Pleasant Valley Boulevard structure, shortly after 6:00, after a neighbor reported smoke. It’s believed a wood burner started the fire, which then spread to the ceiling. The fire was quickly brought under control. No one was injured. The building was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.
