PA Senate Approves Cellphone Ban In Schools

no-cell-phone

A bipartisan bill to mandate “bell-to-bell” cellphone bans in Pennsylvania schools is moving to the State House after clearing the Senate in a 46-1 vote on Wednesday.  Unlike current policies that often only ban phones during class, this bill would prohibit student use throughout the entire school day, including lunch and recess.  While the bill sets a statewide standard, individual school districts would decide how to enforce the rules, and where students must store their devices.  Governor Shapiro has already endorsed the ban.  The bill now goes to the House for consideration.
