Altoona Firefighters responded to a house fire yesterday afternoon shortly after 2:00 at 811 6th Avenue. When crews arrived heavy smoke could be seen coming from the home, however, despite having issues with a frozen fire hydrant, crews were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes. During a search, a victim was located on the second floor and taken to UPMC Altoona for treatment. No firefighters were injured. An investigation is underway.
