Students who attend the Altoona Area Jr,., High School will not report today due to flooding from a water break. The water break occurred yesterday in the Junior High School’s sprinkler system causing extensive flooding on the first floor of the main building. Because of a two hour delay yesterday, when Jr. High students arrived they were reportedly rerouted to the Altoona Area High School, and from there they were dismissed. Because of the damage, and work necessary for repair and cleanup, the students will have an asynchronous remote learning day today. All other schools in the district are operating on a normal schedule. A decision will be made about the rest of the week after officials get more information.
