More Superloads Expected Today

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is advising motorists of the potential for lengthy delays from the movement of superloads today and tomorrow, as well as next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Destined for the Cambria Wind Farm off Route 56 in Ogle Township, Somerset County, the superloads are scheduled to travel south from Clearfield and Centre counties today and tomorrow, with additional loads traveling north from Maryland tomorrow and next Monday, Tuesday, and WednesdayNacelles are scheduled to leave Clearfield County this morning beginning at 7:00, and travel through Centre and Blair counties on Interstate 99, on U.S. 22 through Blair and Cambria Counties, and on U.S. 219 and Route 56 (Scalp Avenue) in Cambria and Somerset counties to the destination.  Drivers should remain alert for these slow-moving, two-lane operations and use alternate routes when possible. Traveling both the posted speed limit and slower as needed, superloads will occasionally pull over to allow traffic to pass.  Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage.  Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com.
