A 31-year-old Denver man, Luis Palma, is facing felony charges after allegedly slashing a stranger’s face with a knife at a Breezewood Sheetz on Wednesday night. According to court documents, Palma told investigators he intended to kill the victim and would have succeeded if bystanders hadn’t stepped in. The incident began shortly after 11:00 p.m. when Pennsylvania State Police responded to reports of a man punching vehicle windows in the parking lot of the Lincoln Highway convenience store. Upon arrival, troopers found a state police corporal already holding Palma at gunpoint. Investigators allege that Palma ambushed the victim from behind as he walked toward the entrance, grabbing his head and shoulders before delivering a “swift slashing motion” across his face. Palma has been charged with criminal attempted homicide and other related counts. He has been placed in the Bedford County Prison where bail has been denied. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 18th.
