Philipsburg Man Kills Self During Standoff

A Philipsburg man, identified as 54-year old Ian Stephenson, died of a self-inflicted injury following a nearly 12-hour standoff. The incident began around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon when troopers arrived at an apartment on North Second Street, in Philipsburg, to serve a warrant.  Reportedly, Stephenson was facing child sexual abuse charges.  Law enforcement attempted to negotiate via text message, and utilized a drone, and battering ram during the confrontation.  Roads in the North Second Street area, which were closed for most of the day, reopened early yesterday morning after the scene was cleared.
