FCC Chairrman Brendan Carr announced the Pledge America Campaign last Friday, urging broadcasters to air patriotic programming for America’s 250th birthday. Carr suggests stations start each broadcast day with the “Star Spangled Banner”, or Pledge of Allegiance. The voluntary campaign also recommends public service announcements highlighting local histocial sites. The announcement follows recent FCC clashes including calls to preemept Jimmy Kimmel Live, and new equal time guidance affecting talk shows like The View, and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
