Governor Josh Shapiro says he intends to use all of his power to stop ICE detention centers from opening in the Commonwealth. Shapiro made the statement in Berks County yesterday after meeting with Berks and Schuylkill County officials. He said local leaders expressed frustration over a lack of communication from the federal government, and voiced concerns that their infrastructure may not be able to handle the increased stress. The governor said his administration is reviewing regulatory steps they can take to halt the process.
