Blair County is moving forward with plans to purchase over 80 acres of land in Duncansville for a new prison at a cost of nearly $600,000. The cost of the land was released after The Altoona Mirror filed a Right-to-Know request for a Letter-of-Intent regarding the purchase. In January the Mirror reported that two parcels totaling 83 acres, situated behind the former Inlow’s Drive-In, in Duncansville is where the Blair County Commissioners plan on building the new prison. Reportedly, a deposit of $50,000 has already been put down on the site per the Letter-of-Intent. A sales agreement has not yet been finalized.
