According to this morning’s Altoona Mirror, no charges will be filed against the Amtran bus driver involved in an accident that seriously injured a 13-year-old girl last Friday, and that’s according to Altoona Police. Reportedly, after reviewing GPS data and surveillance footage from the bus and local businesses, investigators determined the teen attempted to cross the street mid-block in an unsafe area. While analysis showed the bus was traveling between 32 and 37 mph in a 25 mph zone, police noted that the speed was likely insufficient to support criminal charges in court. The accident happened on the 700 block of Kettle Street between East Caroline, and East Hudson Avenues. The child was airlifted to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh with injuries that included internal bruising, and skull fractures.
