Pennsylvania State Treasurer and gubernatorial candidate Stacy Garrity visited Ward Transport and Logistics in Altoona yesterday, marking a key stop in her tour through Central Pennsylvania. The visit served as both a homecoming for Garrity—who worked closely with the facility during her private-sector career—and a platform to address the state’s pressing economic and infrastructural challenges. Garrity, a Republican, reportedly presented a sobering assessment of Pennsylvania’s current standing, citing national rankings that place the Commonwealth 38th in economic performance, and 39th in education. She specifically targeted the state’s aging infrastructure, noting a “C minus” rating, and the presence of 3,000 deficient bridges. Currently in this race, incumbent Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro holds a decisive lead over Garrity. A Quinnipiac University Poll shows Shapiro leads 55 to Garrity’s 37 percent.
