The Pennsylvania House of Representatives voted yesterday to repeal the state’s dormant same-sex marriage ban. Though rendered unenforceable since 2014 by a federal court ruling, the ban remains on the books. The measure, which would strike the line in state law saying that marriage is “between one man and one woman,” passed on a 127-72 vote, with all but one Democrat voting for it, along with 26 Republicans. While advancing for the second time, the measure faces a challenging path in the Republican-controlled state Senate, with final voting reflecting a growing partisan divide and declining GOP support, and that’s according to recent polling.
