With gas prices rising, one state lawmakers wants to prevent companies from increasing those prices more than once a day. Pennsylvania State Representative Ryan Bizzarro (D-Erie) has introduced House Bill 2383, the “End Gas Price Gouging Act,” aimed at limiting fuel price hikes to once every 24 hours. The legislation, which addresses rapidly rising costs that have reached over $4 per gallon in parts of the state, would also empower the Attorney General to prosecute price gouging during emergencies. The bill is co-sponsored by 16 Democrats and no Republicans, and would amend the 2006 Price Gouging Act by adding more definitions to price gouging and banning price gouging petroleum products.
