Judge Denies Petition To Dismiss Charge Against Somerset Co., Sheriff

A Somerset County judge denied a motion to dismiss a corruption of minors charge against Sheriff Dusty Weir, allowing the case to proceed following allegations of inappropriate behavior at a December 2024 “Shop with a Cop” event.  The court found sufficient evidence to move forward with accusations that Weir questioned a 15-year-old girl regarding sexual matters at a local Walmart.  The case will be prosecuted by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office.
