State College Restaurateur, 56-year-old Hitham Hiyajneh plans to reopen the historic 1947 Silk City Diner at 131 South Garner St. in State College as “Baby’s Diner” in mid-June. The new venue will feature a halal, versatile menu blending diner classics with international options, aiming for longer hours, to achieve stability following recent, short-lived ventures at the location. Hiyajneh has spent nearly 20 years running multiple restaurants, and a meal prep service in State College. Thanks to this deep knowledge of local customers, he is confident his new venture will succeed. Customers can also look forward to original Baby’s diner classics, including the famous Whimpy Basket of burgers, hot dogs, fries, and a massive selection of milkshakes.
