Today, the Altoona Mirror reports that the county is sitting on some 17 votes, 10 republican and 7 democrat mail, in ballots because those ballots did not have a handwritten date on the envelope. Senate candidate Dave McCormick has filed suit to have those votes counted. Blair solicitor Nathan Karns says the county will await word from a higher court as to how to proceed with the ballots. The suit named Blair and Allegheny counties as being slow to count these particular votes, thus helping to delay the final voted total. McCormick trails Dr. Mehmet Oz by less than 1000 votes for the GOP nomination for senate. A recount mandated by Pa law is all but assured and must be completed by June 7th.
