According to a report by WTAJ, a water main break occurred in state college borough that forced 18 Townhome residents to flee their homes, because of an impending sink hole that was created. A couple noticed the sink hole beginning to form in the parking lot of the Georgetown Townhomes complex and called for help. One resident said that it took 4-5 hours for work crews to locate the shutoff valve. The structures were deemed unsafe and residents had to grab what they could and get out. Damage could be severe because some houses may have shifted from their foundations.
