News reports indicate that the investigation named “Operation Lake Effect” spanned 6 states including Pennsylvania, and captured or named some 57 suspects for distribution and possession of some 400 lbs of methamphetamines. The FBI and Homeland Security agents made some 50 controlled buys of drugs after an investigation into street gangs in western pa was initiated in 2018. Gangs and drug activity were detected in Indiana, Westmoreland and Armstrong counties. Federal agents seized the meth, 673 lbs of fentanyl laced fake pills, 16 lbs of both fentanyl powder and cocaine, more than $600,000 cash nine vehicles and 47 firearms. Other arrests were made in Arizona, Ohio,Washington, Minnesota, Kansas and Mexico.
