Altoona Woman Charged With Leaving Child in Vehicle

An Altoona woman is facing felony charges after leaving a 4-month old in a vehicle while grocery shopping. 40 year old Jade Diggs was charged after police were called to a home located along Oak Avenue in Altoona. Authorities had been informed that there was an infant that had been left in the vehicle while Diggs had gone shopping earlier. The temperature outside the car was 90 degrees at the time.  Reportedly, the infant was taken to UPMC Altoona after showing signs of lethargy, as well as heavy and rapid breathing. Diggs reportedly told authorities she left the child in the vehicle because he had fallen asleep. Diggs is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault of a victim less than 13, a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child, and numerous other related counts. She is currently in the Blair County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.  A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 24^th.
