A video has surfaced on social media of an arrest made at Wednesday night’s Johnstown city council meeting. Johnstown Police Chief Mark Britton says a man was speaking at the meeting before he became irate. Chief Britton says that the man was addressing council during the public comment portion of the meeting. He says that the man then became irate, started screaming and pointing at council and reportedly made an act of aggression towards the gate that separates the council and the audience. The man, identified as Michael Widdersheim, was reportedly upset about the city’s Central Park renovation project. He incorrectly claimed that a box unearthed during excavation was a coffin. City officials clarified that the box is actually a time capsule from 1988. Widdersheim was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and other related misdemeanor charges.
